BPD Standard, BPD Care and BPD Care+: choose the right care for your parcel

BPD Standard, BPD Care and BPD Care+: choose the right care for your parcel

We have put together three service packages: BPD Standard, BPD Care and BPD Care+. Choose basic service, additional warehouse checks or extended support with a dedicated contact and protection for your parcel’s declared value.

Here is what each package includes, how much it costs and how to submit a claim if your parcel is lost or damaged.

BPD Standard — basic service with no package surcharge

Package price: €0. Shipping is charged separately.

BPD Standard is suitable if you need parcel delivery and standard tracking. You pay the selected shipping rate and can add individual services as needed.

BPD Care — extra attention at the warehouse

Price: €16.90 in addition to shipping.

The package includes:

  • Customs declaration check. We check the completed declaration before dispatch.
  • Packaging check. We inspect the exterior of the packaging and repair any external packaging damage we find.
  • Photo on arrival. We photograph the exterior of your parcel after it reaches our warehouse.
  • Photo documentation and weight check. We record the parcel’s condition and check its weight.
  • Priority warehouse processing. Your parcel receives priority during warehouse handling.

The packaging check is carried out without opening the parcel. It does not replace suitable internal packaging: fragile items must be protected and secured, liquids packed to prevent leaks, empty spaces filled and the corners of the box reinforced.

Priority processing applies to our warehouse. It does not guarantee shorter transit times or faster customs clearance.

BPD Care+ — dedicated support and declared-value protection

Price: €44.90 + 4% of the declared contents value, in addition to shipping.

BPD Care+ includes all BPD Care services, plus:

  • Declared-value protection up to €1,000, subject to the additional carrier liability terms.
  • A dedicated contact to support you with your shipment.
  • Extended tracking and email notifications at delivery stages.
  • Help preparing supporting documents and following up on a compensation claim.

These services are already included in BPD Care+ and do not need to be added again.

Price example: For contents with a declared value of €500, the package costs:

€44.90 + €20 (4% of €500) = €64.90.

Shipping is charged separately.

How declared-value protection works

Declared-value protection is provided through additional carrier liability, rather than a separate insurance policy. It applies to shipments for which the service has been activated, subject to its terms.

Compensation depends on the circumstances:

  • Total loss: The substantiated declared value of the contents is reimbursed within the protection limit. The carrier’s terms also provide for reimbursement of the transport charge.
  • Partial loss: Compensation covers the value of the missing contents.
  • Damage: Compensation is based on the actual, substantiated damage, up to the declared value.

The protection limit for the contents is €1,000. Declaring a value does not automatically entitle you to payment of the full amount. Keep invoices, receipts and other documents showing the value of the contents.

The carrier decides whether compensation is payable after reviewing the circumstances and supporting documents. BPD Express helps prepare the documentation and follows up on the claim.

Where to report loss or damage

For BPD Care+ customers, all reports concerning loss, damage, missing contents and compensation must be submitted exclusively by email to claims@bpd-express.de.

Please include:

  • the tracking number;
  • the sender’s and recipient’s details;
  • a description of the contents and their declared value;
  • a description of what happened and the compensation amount requested.

Attach proof of value and, for damage or missing contents, the official report and photos or videos. Additional documentation may be requested.

If you notice a problem when collecting your parcel:

  1. Tell the postal employee about any damage or signs of opening before the handover is completed.
  2. Ask for an official report describing the damage or missing contents in detail, signed by the employee.
  3. Photograph or film the packaging and unpacking at the collection point, in the employee’s presence.
  4. Keep the box, packaging materials and supporting documents.
  5. Email your claim to claims@bpd-express.de as soon as possible.

If you only open the parcel at home and do not document the problem at handover, there may be insufficient evidence to support compensation.

What limitations apply?

Compensation is excluded in certain circumstances, including damage caused by inadequate packaging, prohibited or restricted contents, inaccurate information or the natural deterioration of the contents.

Other exclusions apply to force majeure, detention or seizure by public authorities and damage caused by the sender or recipient. Missing claim deadlines, failing to follow the claims procedure or not providing the required documents and proof of value may result in rejection.

The full declared-value protection terms are provided when the service is booked.

Frequently asked questions

Why you may see DPD / Chronopost / SEUR branding at drop-off points BPD Express is connected to Geopost (part of La Poste Groupe) — a network that operates acceptance infrastructure under local brands such as DPD, Chronopost, and SEUR. Why BPD Express Doesn’t Take Payment Immediately When You Submit an Order on the Website 3 min read

Why BPD Express Doesn’t Take Payment Immediately When You Submit an Order on the Website

When you create a shipment request on the BPD Express website, you enter an estimated weight. This estimate helps you submit the request quickly, but it shouldn’t be used for an instant online payment, because the weight entered in the form can differ from the actual weight. The key point is simple: the final price is confirmed only after control weighing at our warehouse. This approach prevents unnecessary top-ups, refunds, and processing delays — you pay only when the amount is final and correct.Learn more in FAQ. The main reason in one line Estimated weight in the order ≠ actual weight after control weighing — that’s why there’s no immediate payment at checkout.If you want to start a shipment right now, use Create an order (Parcels). How it works Create your order online (origin, destination, estimated weight) via Parcels Drop off in Europe via a large acceptance network (140,000+ drop-off points, including parcel shops and lockers) — details in EU drop-off coverage Warehouse intake & control weighing → the final amount is confirmed (see FAQ) Invoice / payment request → payment is made with the confirmed amount Track your shipment online using the tracking number: Tracking   Where BPD Express ships from and to Origin countries Shipments are accepted from Europe / EU countries (you choose the origin country in the order form on Parcels). Destination countries Depending on the selected service, key destination countries include: Russia (including Crimea), Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Belarus, Armenia, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan.You can check availability while creating an order here: Service coverage / Parcels. Tracking You can check the status of your shipment at any time here: Tracking. FAQ Why can’t I pay immediately when placing an order? Because the weight entered is an estimate. The final price is confirmed only after control weighing at our warehouse, so payment becomes available only after the final amount is confirmed.More details: FAQ. When will I know the final amount? After your shipment arrives at the warehouse and control weighing is completed — then the final amount is confirmed and payment is enabled / the invoice is issued (see FAQ). How can I reduce differences between estimated and actual weight? Weigh your parcel fully packed (including the box and packing materials) and enter the most accurate weight possible. Where can I drop off a parcel in Europe? Across Europe via 140,000+ drop-off points — explanation and partner network details are here: EU drop-off coverage. What if I need to send documents instead of a parcel? Use the separate guide: Documents from Europe.
